Happy Memorial Day Weekend

LA Westsider wraps up a week of sexy, funky LA finds, westside casual eats, inspirational music and we have an American Idol!

To See

Ever wanted to look through the lenses of Holly Golightly's sunglasses? Look no further after stumbling upon Hotel De Ville Eyewear I got my education in optics. Optician and style maven Van de la Plante globetrotts finding the coolest and sexiest sunglasses. I found my Persol's from the 60s!

To Vintage

Room 222 is a closet full of gems. I met owner Lisa Mionie while hosting a Sunday Yard sale down the street from her office. There she stores vintage finds such as a prized Marimekko piece, Sonia Rykiel, and a wall full of cocktail dresses that would make the cast of Mad Men blush. Check her out at 509 North Fairfax, Los Angeles, CA 90048, 213.300.4905. By appointment only at roomtwotwentytwo@aol.com.

To Eat
La Grande Orange just opened on Santa Monica's Main Street offering a a modern take on American classics with only the freshest ingredients used from LA's farmer's markets. Also check out the La Grande Grocery towards the back of the restaurant selling wine and wood fired pizza's to go. Try Bob's Margarita.

To Listen
Gossip Girl's devious characters Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass ended this weeks season finale with Chuck finally saying the L word with french lingerie and chocolates in tow. But even better was the track playing in the background-"Season of Love" by Los Angeles' band Shiny Toy Guns. With a sound like New Order-brought me back to my Gossip Girl Days.

To Pamper
Artlab-neighbor and newly vamped funky salon to Montana's Luxelab offers great blowouts and excellent stylists complete with a DJ spinning upstairs. Ask for Jen Beckerman. She made me look like a Victoria Secret model sans "the body".

To Idolize
Alas, we have an American Idol! Kris Allen Surprised even himself last night after winning against fan-favorite Adam Lambert. I thought his rendition of Withers' classic "Ain't no Sunshine" was well done...thoughts?

To America
It's Memorial Day weekend and it's not just about backyard barbeque's and beer but those military men and women who have fought for our country. Honor those veterans around you and thank them for making us safe!

To Care
Whether you lean left or right, we can all agree on affordable health care. Divided we fail is working hard to make sure Americans have access to affordable, quality health care and peace of mind about their future long-term financial security, and demanding solutions.
