Hello Summer, remember me?

To Burn
These Candles are bar none-the best candles I have have smelled. Burning times range from 35 to 150 hours (for large sizes), making it hard to resist the burn. Some of the delicious flavors include oceanic scents like Azure Sea, and Tiare Coconut Milk and other exotic smells, Asian Pear Persimmon. To purchase, try Beauty Habit or the Santa Monica's Fred Segal Studio.

To Face
Los Angeles has its advantages of being able to live and breathe sunshine almost 360 days of the year. But it also means you have to work hard at shielding your beautiful faces from it. Introducing COOLA -the beautiful smelling cucumber face sunscreen that is genuinely organic. Now, that's Coola!

To Spa

Angelistas travel to Koreatown's Olympic Spa to get one of the best spa experiences in Los Angeles and meanest prices to boot. Now, Westsiders can enjoy the Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica featuring the signature "Korean style scrub down", holistic massages that leave you feeling lighter and looking brighter.

To Juice
Normally I would be blogging on about some new libation I discovered over the weekend but instead am loving smoothies. Santa Monica's Interim Cafe has some of the tastiest and healthiest concoction's. The Vegan cafe features healthy antioxidant filled drinks including their all natural Green Peach smoothie that is delish and even better-no sugar! Interim Cafe 530 Wilshire Boulevard Santa Monica, CA 90401 (310) 319-9100

To Swim
I am in love with the monokini! Leave it to Forever 21 to mimic this Missoni-style piece that leaves me feeling all Haute and bothered. Though it may not be made for laps, pair it with some Bermuda's or a prairie skirt to lounge poolside. Nobody will know where it came from....

Discovered something chic or tasted something scrumptious? feedback is always appreciated at The Lizt.

June Bloom

To Romp

Your momma said to work with what you have.  I guess that means work extra hard if you got a hot bod.  The 70s style Romper is popping up everywhere and not sure how I feel about 30 somethings trying to look like 14-year-old girls. However, found this St. Topez style version and thought otherwise. Try it on for size at Forever 21.

To Dye For We're seeing Tie Dye come back with a vengeance.  Gap is offering these cool tanks in a rainbow of colors and can be even more delicious when layered.

To Belong
You no longer have to be someone of the affluent community to belong to a beach club. The Annenburg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach just opened its public facility to all, no membership required.  Some of the original housing is still place along with the narrow lap pool decorated with its original gold and turquoise tiling.  Day passes are $10 for adults, and $24 for family. (psssst! $1 on Mondays for the Summer-but don't tell them I told you!)

Look of the Week
Not ALL eyes were on Price Harry at last week's Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.  Miss Chloe Sevigny made a grand ol' appearance looking like something out of Hello Dolly! At least she's got those legs!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

LA Westsider wraps up a week of sexy, funky LA finds, westside casual eats, inspirational music and we have an American Idol!

To See

Ever wanted to look through the lenses of Holly Golightly's sunglasses? Look no further after stumbling upon Hotel De Ville Eyewear I got my education in optics. Optician and style maven Van de la Plante globetrotts finding the coolest and sexiest sunglasses. I found my Persol's from the 60s!

To Vintage

Room 222 is a closet full of gems. I met owner Lisa Mionie while hosting a Sunday Yard sale down the street from her office. There she stores vintage finds such as a prized Marimekko piece, Sonia Rykiel, and a wall full of cocktail dresses that would make the cast of Mad Men blush. Check her out at 509 North Fairfax, Los Angeles, CA 90048, 213.300.4905. By appointment only at roomtwotwentytwo@aol.com.

To Eat
La Grande Orange just opened on Santa Monica's Main Street offering a a modern take on American classics with only the freshest ingredients used from LA's farmer's markets. Also check out the La Grande Grocery towards the back of the restaurant selling wine and wood fired pizza's to go. Try Bob's Margarita.

To Listen
Gossip Girl's devious characters Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass ended this weeks season finale with Chuck finally saying the L word with french lingerie and chocolates in tow. But even better was the track playing in the background-"Season of Love" by Los Angeles' band Shiny Toy Guns. With a sound like New Order-brought me back to my Gossip Girl Days.

To Pamper
Artlab-neighbor and newly vamped funky salon to Montana's Luxelab offers great blowouts and excellent stylists complete with a DJ spinning upstairs. Ask for Jen Beckerman. She made me look like a Victoria Secret model sans "the body".

To Idolize
Alas, we have an American Idol! Kris Allen Surprised even himself last night after winning against fan-favorite Adam Lambert. I thought his rendition of Withers' classic "Ain't no Sunshine" was well done...thoughts?

To America
It's Memorial Day weekend and it's not just about backyard barbeque's and beer but those military men and women who have fought for our country. Honor those veterans around you and thank them for making us safe!

To Care
Whether you lean left or right, we can all agree on affordable health care. Divided we fail is working hard to make sure Americans have access to affordable, quality health care and peace of mind about their future long-term financial security, and demanding solutions. Get involved and learn more at Divided we Fail.
Tasted something delicious, Out on the scene? or just passionate about something? email me your thoughts and suggestions to The Lizt or elizabethb.moore@gmail.com so we can include them!

Crazy, Sexy, Cool Dubai Brings it!

Recently I traveled to never never land! No not Michael Jackson's bankrupt property. But, Dubai-home of the future tallest building and most progressive construction today. United Arab Emirates state of Dubai was a welcome surprise and one I want to revisit soon!

Making the trip to Dubai was made easily by friend of 20 years, travel partner extraordinaire, Lashley Pulsipher or "Lulu" as her friends refer to her. Lulu has been living there for over 2 years and has created an enviable life that bleeds a passion and lust for living.

With her help, she introduced me to a Dubai of crazy nightlife, sexy shopping and cool living-especially if inside! The Dubai Mall offers luxurious names such as British import Harvey Nichols, Spain's close cousin, Massimo Dutti and every other imaginable luxury retailer out there. Not your average mall, and perhaps the "coolest" feature is Ski Dubai-an indoor mountain with 30 degree temps. Dubai also offers some of the most exquisite hotels and resorts with nothing less than a 5 star rating.

Though I could of flown direct from my home in Los Angeles, I took a detour through London and found I saved a little Durham-Dubai's currency. I researched an alternate carrier: Royal Brunei-unknown to me but some of the best in-flight service I've had since flight attendants liked their jobs in the 80's. The friendly and smiley crew were more than helpful-even asking me twice If I wanted some ice cream. After declining, "no thanks", I folded and snaked one to tide me over until our arrival into DXB. All in all, a round trip fare from London at $350 was not too bad.

Straight off the plane, Lash took me to the 400 Club, a quintessential Dubai nightspot located inside Dubai's Fairmont hotel. Most of the clubs are located inside hotels allowing alcohol to be served
legally and respecting the Muslim non-drinking culture.

Between the euro techno beats, a loud boat fog horn would interrupt Lady Gaga's Poker Face and declare someone was "poppin bottles". An extravagant touch ordered by locals which usually included magnum bottles of champagne or Grey Goose complete with a firecracker ready to blast off into the air and start a fire. Whilst the bottles were a poppin, the bouncers would come by to remove the seat cushions and set the stage for dancing.

Following the next day, as I was trying to catch up with an 11 hour time difference and feeling a like a zombie I was ready for the beach. Dubai offers sexy beaches where locals and tourists seek refuge from the sometimes unbearable desert heat. JBR beach is one of the more popular and public beaches-even open for camels to stroll! The warm and shallow bath water is especially salty and if you look closely you can see the schools of fish surrounding you.
Next on the itinerary was an afternoon on the the world class Palm Jumeriah-a man made island in the shape of a palm tree known for its incredible design and engineering.

We were invited to a close friend's home. There he welcomed us into his lovely abode that was everything glam and nothing plain. He served up a delicious Tunisian culinary feast consisting of spicy dishes complete with prawns, chick pea medleys and customary dishes inspired by French cuisine.

After a full belly of Tunisia in me and some shisha smoking sessions later, we ventured into the city to experience the "sexy" in Dubai. Leading Brazilian shoe designer, Dumond announced their retail expansion into the UAE. Celebrating their launch was equally as 5 star as its venue at Downtown's Burj Dubai's The Address hotel-a sophisticated and sexy spot with an outdoor patio likely to trump LA's Skybar.

After Lulu informing me she goes to "events like these all the time", I modestly grabbed a couple of rum infused carpirinas being served up by the dainty staff and danced to the juicy house beats being spun by Mr.DJ.

Counting down to the hours back to LA, What to do?? My super Caucasian skin had seen enough of JBR, and shopping was of no interest. Lash had scheduled massages for us at The Palace Old Town-a beautiful resort and sanctuary resembling an old Arabian village.

Post-Palace spa had me refreshed, revived and starved! Lash had promised some traditional Middle Eastern schwarma-a wrap including chicken, garlic and their added signature touch of french fries to complete a perfect wrap that is less than 5 Durham (little more than $1) and had me daydreaming about all the way back to LA!

Always an adventure-Lash and I have shared many laughs in some of the best cities of Miami, New Orleans to New York and now Dubai-definitely brings it!
